C’est avec tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Gilbert Lanthier, survenu le 4 mai 2026 au Témiscamingue, à l’âge de 86 ans. Né le 22 juillet 1939, Gilbert était détenteur d’un doctorat en chimie, musicien et esprit profondément indépendant. Connu pour son caractère parfois acariâtre, il demeurait néanmoins attachant, curieux et animé d’un humour bien à lui.
Au fil de sa vie, il a marqué son entourage par son intelligence, sa sensibilité et ses expressions mémorables. Il laisse dans le deuil Mark et Keith Hogben, France Jobin, ainsi que Michael et Alexandre Hogben, qui garderont de lui des souvenirs précieux.
Il restera présent dans la mémoire de ceux qui l’ont connu et aimé.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gilbert Lanthier on May 4, 2026, in Témiscamingue, at the age of 86. Born on July 22, 1939, Gilbert held a PhD in Chemistry and was a musician with a fiercely independent spirit. Known for being cantankerous at times, he was also deeply engaging, curious, and carried a unique sense of humour.
Throughout his life, he touched those around him through his intelligence, and his unforgettable expressions. He leaves behind Mark and Keith Hogben, France Jobin, as well as Michael and Alexandre Hogben, who will cherish his memory.
He will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
